FAQs

We have made a compilation of our most frequently asked questions, so you might find the answer you need right here!  If you can't find what you are looking for please email hello@jacandseed.com.au.

What is the best way to store my fringe earrings?
To keep your earrings looking their best and to ensure the fringe work does not go out of shape, it is best to hang your earrings if possible.  The earring cards provided have been made large enough so you can keep them on the card when they are not being worn - so hang on to those cards.  If you are looking for a fabulous earring holder, I can personally recommend Bon Maxie earring holders.

Can you gift wrap my order or add a little card?
At this stage we do not offer gift wrapping or additional card services.  If this is a service that interests you please let us know hello@jacandseed.com.au

Where are your products made?
Right here in Australia, on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.  I personally hand stitch all of my bead weaving and bead embroidery pieces literally one bead at a time!

How long do you pieces take to make?
As you can imagine hand stitching is incredibly time consuming, on average most of my earrings take approximately 2 hours of hand stitching to complete.  Some of my larger styles may take in excess of 4 hours.  The longest I have spend on a piece is in the region of 40hours!

You must have the patience of a saint?
Absolutely not, but I am fascinated by seed beads and when I am beading time just disappears.  I consider beading my form of mediation, the simple act of using thread, beads and my hands to create art.  It calms my nervous system and helps clear my mind at times of stress.

Can you tell me more about the seed beads used?
There are a large variety of seed beads available on the market.  I choose to use Miyuki glass seed beads which are made in Japan.  Miyuki have been producing glass beads since the 1930's and are made to an incredibly high standard.  I use both round and delica beads in my work, I find rounds tend to give a more organic feel where as delicas are amazing for their precision and work really well in geometric beadwork.

Please view our Care Instructions for more information on caring for your piece.

Is sustainability considered?
Absolutely.  On both a personal and business level sustainability is oh so important to me and my family.  For these reason I only stock a limited number of ready to wear styles preferring to make earrings to order to minimise wastage.

I select the highest quality materials I can to ensure your pieces are made to last.   When selecting my packaging materials I choose to use plastic free where I can, preferring to use boxes/paper that can be reused, composted or recycled.  I do use a small amount of bubble wrap that is reused from my own happy mail deliveries and ask you also reuse if possible.

I am not perfect but I am constantly on the look out to make better choices when it comes to my product and my packaging while making sure my pieces arrive to you safely and undamaged.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me to discuss further.

If you decide your piece is no longer for you and isn't being worn please don't throw me away in to landfill.  Perhaps try gifting to someone else, donating to charity (just make sure they accept earrings first) or even returning to me in a padded post bag or envelope.  I do a number of artworks though out the year where I use beads that have been upcycled from broken jewellery or pieces I have found at thrift stores.

Replacements and Repairs
My seed bead earrings while delicate, are incredibly well made and you should not have any issues with breakages.  In the event that you do have a breakage or if you lose an earring (we have all been there!) please email me and I can let you know if I can repair or remake for you.

Refunds
For hygiene purposes I cannot offer refunds on purchases if you change of mind.  Please ensure you check over your earrings as soon as they arrive for any damage or breakages that may have occurred during shipping.  Please contact me within 24hrs of their arrival if there are any issues with your order.
